Building up to the Manchester Vintage Fair on 5th of May, I have been busy making a 50s dress from a vintage pattern. This isn't the first time i have made this pattern, however making things out of cotton can (and has been) a nightmare!! I will write a separate post on the dress in all its glory, later.
So the fair is coming up and i have been trying to make a plan and have a clear view of what i am aiming to get there. I have found whenever you are going thrifting or to any type of fair it's a good idea to have a clear(ish) idea of what you want. There are so many wonderful things sometimes that your budget just wont stretch and then you might walk away disappointed that you had to leave something behind that you love; (trust me this has happened a lot!)
Here are my tips for vintage shopping:
Have a clear budget: if your anything like me you will want to take everything and anything home!
Check you sizing: measure yourself before you go and make sure you carry a tape measure with you. There is nothing worse than coming home with something that wont fit; and remember not all garments are easy to take in!
Know what you are going for: now this doesn't necessarily mean that you only buy what you went for, because lets face it sometimes you find something that's just too good not to get! What i suggest is to have a focus; maybe your wardrobe could benefit from a few more dresses or you really want some nice cardigans to go complete your outfits, perhaps its those all important accessories you are after.
Now your all set and ready to hit the shops!
I will keep you posted on my adventures at the Manchester vintage fair!
Hugs and Kisses
